Any health care office has protocols on how to handle emergencies. Some emergencies may never occur but it is good to Be Prepared.

We recently upgraded to a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and added an opioid emergency kit.

Dr Doug Cook learned about a new AED to replace our 20 year old Zoll AED+ at the 2026 National Jamboree American Red Cross booth. We bought one and you can see a difference compared to our current AED.

Opioid Emergency Kit (ONEbox)

Naloxone is a life-saving medicine that quickly reverses an opioid overdose by blocking opioid receptors in the brain. Accidental victims from trace amounts of incidental exposure to potent opioids such as fentanyl can affect family members, EMS, fire and law enforcement personel. These opioids can stop breathing and is an emergency situation.

The emergency kit contains

• nasal dose supply of naloxone

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, gloves, one way breathing device for CPR, and wipes.

The most impressive part of this kit is a video that operates automatically to educate the user with instructions on use.

The cost of the video-equipped box at the time of this posting was $179.00 plus tax and shipping. A $50 version is available with a QR code to access the video on a smartphone.
